With thousands of servers in hundreds of networks around the world, they use their computational and network power to transform the chaotic Internet into a predictable, scalable, and secure business platform.


What will you do?
Our Network Infrastructure Engineers build and maintain a Latin American network. You’ll work closely with field technicians, ISPs, customers, equipment vendors, and internal operations and engineering staff. You’ll be given a geographic territory and will coordinate all the activity therein:

Recruiting, training, and managing field technicians.
Project managing new network installations, working closely with Network Architects, Network Engineers, Contract Managers, and Operations staff.
Configuring and troubleshooting servers, switches, and routers.
Specifying hardware configurations to meet requirements of new and existing service offerings.
Maintaining tight control of Akamai’s hardware assets.
You will be part of the team which is responsible for a platform consisting of over 60,000 servers in almost 1,000 networks across 70+ countries. This platform handles a significant portion of the world’s Web traffic.


What are we looking for?

BS in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
Knowledge of Internet protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, and DNS.
Network switch and router experience.
Unix/Linux command-line experience.
Proven project management and organizational ability.
Strong communication skills, including both verbal and written English.
Goal-oriented attitude to work through roadblocks, attend to details, and bring about project closure.
The ability to work in an energetic and dynamic environment, with openness to the demands and rewards of building and maintaining a worldwide network (non 9-5 M-F work may be required).
